Obituary for Marilyn Spencer Freeland

Marilyn Ann (Spencer) Freeland, 73, of Quiet Dell passed away following an extended illness on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at United Hospital Center. Marilyn was born at Volga (Barbour County), WV on February 20, 1939, the daughter of the late Buster Brown Spencer and Clarice Glenna (Furr) Spencer. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack Leon Freeland, whom she married on August 6, 1960.
She is also survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Ann Freeland and her companion, Steven Patterson, of Quiet Dell, and Cindy Lee Freeland and her husband, Christopher Peters of Midlothian, VA; Three granddaughters, Alicia Ann Betarie of Quiet Dell, Hannah Olivia Peters and Clarice Isabella Peters of Midlothian, VA; brothers, Robert Spencer and his wife Phyllis of Nutter Fort, and Bill Spencer and his wife Joan of Clarksburg; one niece, Terry Pruitt of Clarksburg, and two nephews, Mark Spencer and his wife Emily of Colorado, and Shon Spencer and his wife Tess of Nutter Fort. Marilyn graduated from Philippi High School in Philippi in 1956, and West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg in 1958. She worked for Maidenform and WBOY until she moved to Petersburg, VA to be with her husband who was in the military. Upon returning to WV, she became a homemaker. She was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church. Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who knew and loved her.
