Obituary for Ralph P. Schneider

Ralph P. Schneider, 82, of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014, in Monongalia General Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh on January 25, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Eberle Schneider.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen Polosky Schneider, whom he married June 8, 1957.
Also surviving are six children, Mark Schneider and his wife Crystal, Kingwood; Leeann Gricewich and her husband Mark, Bridgeport; Lori Martin and her husband Robby, Clarksburg; Keith Schneider and his wife Pam, Harrisburg, PA; Eric Schneider and his wife Liz, Bridgeport; and Kevin Schneider and his wife Heather. Sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Schneider and Robert Schneider and his wife Dot, all of Pittsburgh, and several nieces and nephews complete his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Marion Schneider; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Robert Rotthoff; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Schneider.
Ralph was proud to have served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a salesman with Consolidated Supply and George L. Wilson Supply, where he retired in 1999.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, and after retirement he worked in maintenance at the church for ten years. He also was currently serving as an usher. He enjoyed golfing, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501 or at cancer.org.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Benedict Kapa as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
