Obituary for Clifford Alden Matheny

Clifford A. Matheny, 91, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday evening, March 28, 2014. He was born November 29, 1922 in Ocean Mines, WV a son of the late Arden Matheny and Beatrice Groves Matheny.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Winston Matheny who passed away on March 14, 2004.
He is survived by one sister Doris Gregory of Shinnston; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one son, Clifford Matheny; and three sisters, Margaret Loughin, Mary Arnett, and Nina McDonald; three brothers, Raymond Matheny, Harold Matheny, and Wilbur Matheny.
Mr. Matheny was a Veteran of WWII, serving for 5 years in the United States Army. He was employed by Crucible Steel for 28 years where he worked in the maintenance department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, most of all he liked to camp, especially at Smoke Hole Caverns
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Reverend Harley Jeffries presiding. Interment will be in Elkview Masonic Cemetery, Clarksburg.
