Obituary for Gary Lee Sandy Sr.

Gary L. Sandy, Sr., 58, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was born in Bridgeport on October 18, 1955, a son of the late Erma Hyde Sandy and George E. Sandy, who survives in Bridgeport.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Deborah Ann Morris Sandy, whom he married August 20, 1983.
Also surviving are two children, Christina Wright and her husband Ben, Bridgeport; and Gary Lee Sandy, Jr. and his wife Katherine, Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Samantha and Brent Wright, and Paislee Sandy. A brother, Larry Sandy, Bridgeport; five sisters, Dora Hart, Bridgeport; Carol Sandy, Clarksburg; Dorothy Sandy, Bridgeport; Shirley Mayle, Philippi; and Glenda Snider, Mannington; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews complete his family.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Sandy.
Gary has worked for Top Brand in the oil and gas industry for over 16 years. He enjoyed farming and raising horses and cattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gary’s memory are requested to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, where a celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 10 a.m. with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding.
