Obituary for Manuel Mayobre Jr.

Manuel Mayobre, Jr. , 84, of Bridgeport and formerly of Leesburg, VA , passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at United Hospital Center. He was born on October 21, 1929 in Chanteiro, LaCoruna Spain a son of the late Manuel Mayobre, Sr. and Peregrina Rebon Mayobre.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Josephine “Jo” Peris Mayobre, whom he married on May 30, 1954
He is also survived by one son, Manuel Mayobre, III and his wife Tracy of Leesburg, VA; one daughter, Elena Maria Young and her husband Chris of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Michael Mayobre, Ryan Mayobre, Emily Young and Marisa Young; sister-in-law, Carmen Aranda of New Hyde Park, NY and a niece Carmen Aranda of Spain and a nephew Raymond Aranda of NY.
He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Ramon Aranda, father-in-law, Juan Peris and mother-in-law, Bienvenida Peris
Mr. Mayobre received his B.S. degree in engineering at Capitol Institute of Technology in MD and was employed by Dettra Communications with 30 years of service until his retirement in 1993. He was secretary of IEEE, a member of the chess club in Washington, DC, a member of the Surratt Society, a member of the United States Army Signal Corp and Honor Guard, Original Artist of Frostie Rootbeer Insignia. He loved classical guitar and Beethoven, and he was a passionate Washington Redskins fan. He loved his native country of Spain and was an avid fisherman as well as having a passion for reading.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to People’s Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A vigil service will be held on Monday at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport on Tuesday at 10:00 am Father Hilarion V. Cann as Celebrant. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later time with Military Honors.
