Obituary for Charles C. "Chick" Rieser

Charles C. “Chick” Rieser, age 85, of Bridgeport, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Louis A. Johnson Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1928 in Clarksburg a son of the late John J. Rieser and Anna Binder Rieser.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Montgomery Rieser on December 8, 1981.

He is survived by four children, Mike Rieser and his wife Karen of Flemington, Cindy Allen and her husband Sam of Bridgeport, Belinda Lamp of Bridgeport and Jamie Rieser and his wife Sherry of Lake Floyd; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Rieser, Rick Johnson, Andrea Newlon, Brady Allen, Craig Lamp, Cody Lamp, Brandon Lamp and Hope Rieser; four great grandchildren, Peytin Lamp, James Lamp, Marra Johnson and Lucas Newlon; two sisters, Evelyn Coughlin of Pittsburgh, PA and Sue Bailey of Miami, FL.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Roslyn Daristotle Rieser; and his brothers and sisters, Pauline Albertson, Marguerite Farrell, Mary Rieser, Frances White, Paul “Buck” Rieser, Louis Rieser, Max Rieser and Reverend John Rieser.

Mr. Rieser was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1951-1953. Following his service he was in the electrical business with Westinghouse and he retired from Wesco Distribution Inc. after 44 years of service.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 2-8 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main Street, Bridgeport at 10:00 am with Father Hilarion V. Cann as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
