Obituary for Etta Carnes

Willetta “Etta” Carnes, 82, of Bridgeport, departed this life on September 15, 2014, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Karl and Coka Nulter, a sister Arlu Snyder and her beloved husband Tom Carnes.
Anyone who knew Etta was familiar with her easy laugh and generosity of spirit. Etta loved few things more than feeding people as plenty of folks on the receiving end of a cake, pie or plate of cookies can attest.
Etta also really enjoyed time spent in volunteer work with her dear friends at the Trinity CEOS. She was an avid supporter of the Bridgeport Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. Bridgeport United Methodist was her church home.
Career wise, Etta was a long-time fixture behind the counter at Furbee’s Pharmacy and later at The Prescription Shop.
Etta is survived by her daughter and family Robin and Karl Schnug and grandson John Calton, who live in La Mesa, CA; her sister Kathleen McCoullough of VA; and her brother Paul Nulter of PA.
Etta requested that there be no flowers at her funeral. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to her favorite cause, her only grandson John Calton’s College education.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Entombment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
