Obituary for
Dorothea Wyatt "(Biermann Fiora)" Terneus
Dorothea Wyatt Terneus (Biermann, Fiora), 92, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday evening, September 18, 2014, at her home. She was born at home in Reynoldsville, a daughter of the late John William Wyatt and Anna Marie Wright Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Terneus, Sr., September 16, 1982; Karl Biermann, in 1985; and Charles Q. Fiora, January 16, 2006.
She is survived by four children, Anna Lee Highland and her husband James, Bowling Green, KY; Robert L. Terneus, Jr. and his wife Sarah, Bridgeport; Deacon William F. Terneus, Sr., and his wife Christina, Melbourne, FL; and Marcus Terneus, Sr., and his wife Jeanette, Bridgeport. Twelve grandchildren, Dorothea (Pat) Chism; Kathy (Jack) Bush; Debi (Jeff) West; Cyndi (John) Pajak; Robert (Carla) Terneus, III; Dr. Kym (Paul) Fischer; Suzanne (Travis) Winans; Dr. William (Tonya) Terneus, Jr.; Robert B. Terneus; Dr. Marcus (Heidi) Terneus, Jr; John (Tesse) Terneus; and Scott (Brooke) Terneus; great-grandchildren, Ashley Farley, Tim Chism; Robert and Jacob Hockstedler; Savannah West; Torin Pajak; Krista, Connor, and Leah Terneus; Liam and Elias Fischer; Travis Michael, Bethany and Mary Winans; Anna, William III and Noah Terneus; Kaylin; Alivia; Maleia; Ethan, Addyson; Cohen and Chanley Terneus; and great-great-grandchildren, K.J., Joe, Bentley and Blu, complete her family.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Wyatt; and three sisters, Mary V. Wyatt; Margaret Goldsboro, and Betty Crawford.
Dottie was a graduate of Victory High School, Class of 1940. She grew up in the Immaculate Conception Church and had also been a member of St. James Catholic Church. Since 1959, she has been a very active member of All Saints Catholic Church where she performed many duties, including serving as an Eucharistic Minister and singing in the choir. She had also previously volunteered at the VA Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, and at Shepherd’s Corner. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, DAR and Christian Daughters of America. She loved playing bridge and bowling.
Her family and her church were most important in her life, and she was actively involved with her whole family in whatever they were doing.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, where the Vigil Service will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. to close the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dagle and Deacon Bill Terneus, her son, presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
