Obituary for Donald Eugene Cutlip

Donald E. Cutlip, 70, of Bridgeport, and formerly of Lumberport, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Bridgeport. He was born March 2, 1944 in Buckhannon a son of the late Eugene Max Cutlip and Helen Irene Robey Cutlip.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dianne Yvonne Winemiller Cutlip, whom he married on February 23, 1974.
He is also survived by one son, J. Franklin Cutlip and his wife Shannon of Greeneville, TN; six grandchildren, Tiffany Marie Ortega and her husband Kevin of Ft. Drum, NY, Whitney Nicole Cutlip, Krystal Rose Cutlip, Matthew Franklin Cutlip, Alexis Yvonna Cutlip and Edward Richards; two great grandchildren, Kevin Ortega and Elijah Eugene Ortega; one brother, John Cutlip and his wife Meritta of Davie, FL.
Mr. Cutlip was a graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School and attended Potomac College and Fairmont State University, graduating from Old Dominion with a Business Administration degree. He was also a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1968-1971, serving 13 months in Vietnam. Mr. Cutlip was a coal miner for 32 years retiring in 2003 from Consol Energy. He was an avid football fan and loyal Mountaineer fan and a longtime season ticket holder. He was also a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family and his dogs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Thursday with Reverend John Cutlip, his brother presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
