Obituary for
Eva Louise Wease (Cropp)
Eva Louise Wease, 78, of Stonewood, passed away Wednesday morning, November 12, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Grafton on February 14, 1936, a daughter of the late Dorsey and Mary (Shingleton) Cropp.
On August 26, 1956, she married William E. “Bill” Wease, who preceded her in death on March 12, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie Wease, Alexandria, VA; and Donna Heldreth and her friend Skip Ball, Clarksburg; her granddaughter, Holly Heldreth, Camp Hill, PA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Harris and Kathleen Butcher; and a brother Ray Cropp.
Eva was a graduate of Grafton High School. She was a very active member of Congregational Missionary Church, Stonewood. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter No. 11; the Lucinda Rose Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 573; and the International Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed making ceramics, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and her cat “Gizmo.”
The family would like to give thanks to her neighbor, Tracy Harte, who has helped her over the years, and to her caregivers who so loving have taken care of her over the past year, Jeanette, April, Danielle, Jeannie, Belinda, Nicole, Mary, Gina, and Peoples Hospice nurse Erica.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Eva’s memory be made to Peoples Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, with an Eastern Star Service to be held on Sunday. Mrs. Wease will lie in state at Congregational Missionary Church, 203 Hazelwood Avenue, Stonewood, from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014, where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
