Obituary for Russell Steele Broadwater Sr.

Russell Steele Broadwater, Sr., 85, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2014, at his son’s residence in Lumberport. He was born in Harrisville on August 13, 1929, a son of the late Charles Edwin and Ivah Caroline Baker Broadwater.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Adams Broadwater, on April 27, 2014.
He is survived by his son, Russell S. Broadwater, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, Lumberport, who have cared for him the past year in their home. A granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn Broadwater, Clarksburg; two grandsons, Russell Clayton Broadwater and his wife Christie, Lumberport, and Timothy Wayne Broadwater, Morgantown; four great-grandchildren, Cynthia Nicole McLean and Hayden Steele McLean, both of Clarksburg; and Clayton Stone Broadwater and Kaylyn Shay Broadwater, both of Lumberport; and a sister Louise DeFazio of Clarksburg, and several nieces a nephews complete his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Nellie Elenor Nutter, Anna May Barnett; and four brothers, William Marcus Aaron Broadwater, Charles A. Broadwater, Earl Scott Broadwater and Burl Glen Broadwater.
Russell had worked at Fourco Glass, where he was a foreman in the hot end, and then at Jerry’s Run as a security guard, retiring in 1989. He had served in the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Russell was a faithful member of Bridgeport Baptist Church.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, with Pastor Thomas Edgell presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
