Obituary for William Raymond Mason Sr.

William Raymond Mason, Sr., of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday morning, January 26, 2015. He was born in Clarksburg on October 7, 1934, a son of the late Raymond Elias and Edith Wadsworth Mason.
Bill, as he was known to everyone, leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Sarah A. Caveney Mason.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William Raymond (Raymie) Mason, II, and his wife Connie of Bridgeport; a daughter, Jean Anne Mason Pack and her husband David Christian Pack of Fulshear, TX; his grandsons, Ryan, Nicholas, and Hayden Mason, and Christian Pack; and two step-granddaughters, Caitlin and Courtney Steele. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Mason; his sister, Doloras Beveridge Blank; a nephew, Brent Beveridge; a brother-in-law, Steve Toryak; and a niece, Megan Toryak.
Bill was employed by the Monroe Calculating Machine Co. for thirteen years, after which he formed his own business known as Mason Construction, just recently retiring after forty-plus years in the building business. He was a very meticulous home and apartment builder well known in the Bridgeport area.
Following graduation from Farmington High School in 1953, he enlisted in the US Army, was honorably discharged, and later served in the Army Reserves. Bill was a member of All Saints Catholic Church for many years.
We thank Amedysis Hospice Care of Anmoore for their marvelous care and compassionate support, and express our special appreciation to the Meadowview Manor Associates for all their love and attentiveness given to Bill.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where the Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, with Father Hilarion V. Cann as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
