Charles “Charlie” Glenn Cheuvront, 73, of Sycamore, WV, went home with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at his home following an extended illness. Charlie was born on August 6, 1941, in Clarksburg, WV, the son of the late Oris Glenn Cheuvront and the late Mildred Olive (Flanagan) Cheuvront.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Marlene (Yeager) Cheuvront and his brother, Garry Lee Cheuvront. Charlie is also survived by two sons, Randall “Randy” Charles Cheuvront and wife, Jenna; Chad Glenn Cheuvront and wife, Liza. Charlie had three grandchildren: Aidan and Simon Cheuvront, sons of Randy and Jenna; and Darryan Ward, daughter of Chad and Liza. Charlie is survived by a large extended family which consists of four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Charlie was a 1960 graduate of Unidis High School. Charlie served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his service he earned a Sharpshooter Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon returning home, Charlie began working at Anchor Hocking and worked there for 22 years. After being laid off from Anchor Hocking, Charlie studied carpentry at United Technical Center and then worked at Hartland Planing Mill until his retirement.
Charlie was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church. Among Charlie’s fondest memories were the camping trips he took with family to Audra State Park. He enjoyed riding inner tubes down the river with his sons, nieces and nephews. He was also proud of the campfire meals that Marlene cooked on those trips.
Charlie’s hobbies included watching NASCAR and old westerns; working on his property; and restoring the first car he bought as a young man, a 1958 Chevy Impala. One of his favorite pastimes in recent years was model trains, a hobby he shared with his grandsons. Charlie converted a pool table into a large display of many train tracks, engines, cars and decorations.
Charlie’s greatest accomplishment and source of happiness was his marriage to Marlene, whom he married on October 20, 1967. He loved, adored and honored her and she loved him just as much as he loved her. Their commitment to each other strengthened as their family grew over the years. Charlie’s undying love for his family will never be gone. It will flourish and guide the lives of those who were blessed to be a recipient of such devotion.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 2-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm with Reverend George Murphy and Reverend Timothy Kelley presiding. Interment will be in Jarvisville Baptist Cemetery.
