Obituary for Sarah Alice Stanley (Daft)

Sarah Alice Daft Stanley, 92, of Maple Lake, Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born June 10, 1922 in Mt. Joy, PA a daughter of the late Henry and Elsie B. Trout Daft.
On June 19, 2002 she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Larkin T. Stanley, Sr. whom she married on March 20, 1943.
She is survived by six children and their spouses, L. T. Stanley, Jr. and Linda of Philippi, Sarah (Sally) Alice Amsler and Claude of Kirtland, OH, Wayne H. Stanley and Coni of Maple Lake, David R. Stanley and Berna of Philippi, Barbara K. Ferguson and Jimmy of Bridgeport and Gary E. Stanley and Ranae of Bridgeport.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Lori Haddix, Pam Allen, Amy Ray, MD, Kenny Stanley, Philip Freeman, Jared Stanley, Major Nathan Ferguson, Colby Stanley, and Tiffany Tope; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Mae Baxter, of Orlando, FL, E. Beatrice Daft of Maple Lake and Helen Frances Daft of Mt. Joy, PA.
Sarah enjoyed the longest membership at Maple Lake, living there since August of 1947. In later years she and her sister enjoyed riding her scooter around the lake. She could drive anything! She was also a talented seamstress, making her first granddaughter’s wedding dress. She graduated from Goldey Business College. She was a bookkeeper for Miller F. Davis Jewelry store in Wilmington, DE, Davis Petroleum, Inc. of Clarksburg and Stanley Industries, Inc. of Maple Lake. Mom was a very gifted lady never being intimidated to learn something new, learning to work on the computer at 62 until her retirement at 76.
Sarah attended Abundant Life Church in Arlington and Trinity Assembly of God at Fairmont.
She was a Godly example of a woman who lived her life helping her husband and being a great mother. She will be sadly missed, but just for a short while, because we didn’t lose her, we know where she is and plan on seeing her again!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sarah Stanley to the Gideon’s International, PO Box 2075 Clarksburg, WV 26302-2075. The money will be used to provide Bibles in 200 Countries around the world.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 2-5 and 6-8 pm where services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Ray Crabtree presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
