Obituary for Virginia Maxine McDonald (Brooks)

Virginia Maxine Brooks McDonald, 92, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 1, 1923 in Farmington a daughter of the late Grant Brooks and Stella Elizabeth Wolfe Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Claude Brohard McDonald who passed away on January 1, 1976.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay Paugh and her husband Chuck of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Paul McNemar and his wife Lisa of Berkley Springs, David McNemar and his companion Leasa Edwards of Clarksburg, Dean McNemar and his wife Bobbi of Bridgeport, Paula Todd and her husband Chad of Clarksburg and Marissa Paugh of Bridgeport; seventeen great-grandchildren, Brent, Gina, Hannah, Emma Sara and Joey McNemar, Brandy McGary, Josh, Jamey and Megan McNemar, Clarissa, Alyia, Nicholas, Andrew, Renae Todd, James Paugh Navaretta and Cameron Kiddy; and two great-great –grandchildren, Zachary and Alli McGary; one brother, Jerry Brooks and his wife Pat of Charleston, SC; and three sisters, Betty Lou Kepler of Fairmont, Doris Hensley of Fairmont and Barbara Korsh and her husband Paul of Farmington.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith A. McNemar; and her grandson, Jamey Paugh; four brothers, John William Brooks, James Robert Brooks, Dale E. Brooks and Eugene Brooks; and her twin sister Pauline Brooks.
She was a graduate of Farmington High School and was employed One Hour Martinizing (Skasiks) for five years, Heritage Nursing Home for six years as a nurse’s aid and at Meadowview Manor for eight years in housekeeping retiring in 1983.
She also attended Grace Baptist Church and was a member of the Red Hatters, Bridgeport Manor Auxiliary and the Rebekah’s Lodge; she also enjoyed watching baseball games, especially her favorite team the Atlanta Braves.
The family would also like to thank People’s Hospice, especially Rachel Golden and Tina Bart for their excellent care.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12-8 p.m. on Wednesday, where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 with Pastor Paul Hickman and Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
