Obituary for Hobert Lee Bunner

Hobert Lee Bunner, 74, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday morning, July 12, 2015, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Buckhannon on September 24, 1940, a son of the late Cecil and Edna (Reger) Bunner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann (Hart) Bunner.
Also surviving are his son, Christopher Bunner and his wife Maizee (Craft) Bunner, Caldwell, OH; his daughter, Kelli Zafer and her husband Zeynel Zafer, Bridgeport; a grandson, Tyson Josiah Bunner; two sisters, Betty Curtis, Bridgeport; and Lola Wilcox, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kerri Lynn Bunner; a sister, Mildred Myers; and four brothers, Raymond “Junior” Bunner and Carol Bunner; and two twin brothers who died in infancy.
Hobert was the owner and operator of K.C. Auto Sales for many years, where he earned a reputation for his honesty and integrity in the car business. He was so synonymous with K. C. Auto Sales that many knew him as simply “K. C.” He had also retired from UCAR Carbon as an inventory control manager. He had graduated from Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He attended Quiet Dell United Methodist Church.
Hobert was a selfless and devoted husband who exemplified all that marriage could and should be. He cared for his ill wife for many years without complaint. Even in his last week of life, when he could barely speak in a faint whisper, his concern was for her well-being. Hobert enjoyed vacations with his family, especially in Myrtle Beach. The memories made on those vacations will be treasured by his family forever. All who knew him will remember him for his bright smile and cheerful whistle. He will be missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Hobert’s memory be made to Hepatic Encephalopathy Foundation, American Liver Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006; http://he123.liverfoundation.org/ways-to-give/

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 5-8 pm Wednesday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015, with Reverend Brian Boley presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
