Obituary for Louise (Meadows) Doss

Louise (Meadows) Doss, 89, of Bridgeport and formerly of Madison, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2015, in the United Hospital Center with her loving husband, James R. Doss, and her family by her side. She was born on September 6, 1926, at Cabel, WV (now Ridgeview), Boone County, the fifth child of the late Lonnie Casco Meadows and Mary Belle Carnes Meadows.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, James R. Doss, whom she married May 17, 1946.
Also surviving are two daughters, Virginia Louise Binegar and her husband David, Bridgeport; and Lee Ann Doss of Swansboro, NC; her daughter-in-law, Mary Doss, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Bethany Michelle Doss; Michael Aaron Binegar and his wife Corrissa; Mark Andrew Binegar; Evan James Kitzmiller; and Emma Lee Kitzmiller; step-grandchildren, Michael Schneider; Paul Schneider and his wife Malyn; great-grandchildren, Matthew Patterson, Chandler Millman, Nathaniel Binegar, Hunter Binegar, Carson Binegar, Elijah Binegar, Chase Binegar, Stoane Binegar, Natasha Binegar, Abigail Binegar, Jaevonn Schneider, Lannah Schneider, Albanee Schneider, and Quinton Schneider; and a sister Mary Evelyn Abbott and her husband Harold, of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dan R. Doss; a grandson, David James Binegar, a sister, Virginia Thelma Duke; and her brothers, Buster Paul Meadows, Columbus Leroy Meadows, James Lewis Meadows, Harold Ray Meadows, and Lonnie C. Meadows, Jr.
She was a graduate of Scott High School in Madison where she was a cheerleader and participated in many activities. She attended Marshall College for two years where she met and married James Ray Doss from Lorado, Logan County.
Louise worked as a secretary and substitute teacher at Scott High School, and as a secretary at Westmoreland Coal Company. She was a member of Madison Baptist Church, and after James was transferred to the Clarksburg and Morgantown areas for Hope Natural Gas Company, she belonged to the First Baptist Church in Morgantown and Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She was a member of the Madison Chapter #121 Order of the Eastern Star.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015, where services will be held at 1 p.m. with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins, Reverend Thomas Horne, and Pastor James Patrick Wright presiding. The interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Boone Memorial Park, Madison, WV.
