Obituary for Bernard J. Lehosit

Bernard  J.  Lehosit
Bernard J. Lehosit, 74, of North View, passed away Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, in the United Hospital Center with his wife and son by his side. He was born in Clarksburg on July 7, 1941, a son of the late Anthony F. Lehosit, Sr. and Helen C. Scotchie Lehosit
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Sandra Kopp Lehosit whom he married on October 9, 1965.
Also surviving are his son, BJ Lehosit, Ashland, Kentucky, and a sister, Mary Monica Hupp and her husband Ted, Jr. of Franklin, TN; nieces, Laura Hupp of TN and Lisa Scullin of AL; nephews, Ted Hupp, III of Scotland, Rodney Kopp of NC, David Kopp of NC and Tony Lehosit, III of Clarksburg; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony J. Lehosit, Jr.
Bernie graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1959, where he excelled in sports, especially football and basketball. He proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Lehosit retired from AFG Industries as an electrician in 1999. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, a former member of the Parish Council and worked in the kitchen cooking for many of the spaghetti dinners which they were known for. He was an avid bowler at Compton’s Lanes and his proudest achievement (besides meeting his wife at the bowling alley) was bowling a 300 game.
He was currently serving as Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Clarksburg Council 872, and was also the Hall Manager. Prior to being Grand Knight, he served as Treasurer for many years. He was instrumental in starting the catering in the hall and Bingo, and was well known for his hot dogs and chili. He was also an active Fourth Degree member of Our Lady of Peace Assembly 1184, Clarksburg, where he had also served as Faithful Navigator.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, where the Vigil Rite will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. James Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, with Reverend William A. Anderson, Presider, and Reverend Akila Rodrigo. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
