Obituary for Robert R. "Bob" Lafferty Sr.

Robert R. “Bob” Lafferty, Sr., 85, of Quiet Dell, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 in Fairmont. He was born on December 18, 1930 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Melvin Lafferty and Golda Church Lafferty and his stepmother who helped raise him, Christine Lafferty.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Freeland Lafferty.
He is also survived by his sons, Robert Lafferty, Jr. and his wife Linda of Clarksville, TN, Michael Lafferty and his wife Carol of Stonewood and Dana Lafferty and his wife Jeannine of Quiet Dell; grandchildren, Mike Lafferty and his wife Rhonda, Michelle Lafferty, Angelina Lafferty, Loraina Lafferty, Rhea Dyer and her husband Adam, Annie Lafferty and Addie Lafferty; great grandchildren, Monte, Kyle, Lindsay Lafferty, Jessica Lafferty, RJ Arrington, Caroline Queen, Manny Fratto and Iley Dyer; brother, Gerald Lafferty and his wife Elaine of Clarksburg; sisters, Frances Childers of Jacksonville, FL, Alberta Loar and her husband Albert of Clarksburg, and Charlotte Wilson and her husband Jesse of Nutter Fort; a sisters-in-law, Jackie Lafferty of North View, and Jean Prange of Burk Burnet, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and stepmother, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Hushour and Rosalie Boege; two brothers, James and Ronald Lafferty; brothers-in-law, Don Childers and Bernard Prange; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Marilyn Freeland.
Mr. Lafferty was a crane operator with Union Carbide for 38 years until his retirement and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and previously raised chickens, pigeons and goats. He was generous to kids in the community and was a wonderful neighbor. No one ever left his home empty-handed.

The family would also like to thank the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Tygart Center Genesis Health Care and Amedisys Hospice who took such great care of Bob.

At his request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
