Obituary for Nancy Carol Davisson (Cherubino)

Nancy Cherubino Davisson, 68, of Clarksburg departed this life on February 24, 2016 after battling cancer that she felt was a chance to be an example to do the will of God.
Nancy was born to the late Sam J. and Anna Felosa Cherubino on December 21, 1947 in Harrison County.
Nancy married the late Lynn R. Davisson on October 25, 1969 and resided in Clarksburg until his death in January 2004. They were the proud parents of Traci Davisson Ellis of Buckhannon, WV and Kelley Davisson of Clarksburg.
Nancy is survived by both of her daughters and son n law Franklin J. “Hank” Ellis, grandson Frankie D. Ellis and granddaughter Olivia Anna Ellis of Buckhannon, WV. Her love for them was in her eyes the greatest gift God could give her along with her girls.
Nancy was a proud graduate of the Catholic grade schools, Holy Rosary and Saint Mary’s. Graduating Notre Dame High School in 1965, her class was the largest class to attend Notre Dame High School. She then went on to graduate from the Wheeling School of Cosmetology in 1966.
Respectfully retiring in 2013, Nancy was talented in many working fields in Clarksburg. She gained much knowledge and education to serve each job coming away with much respect because of being able to communicate with and met each person with compassion.
Nancy was a devout catholic, serving her faith in many capabilities. She served on boards of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, teaching CCD and Sacramental preparation class, was a liaison for catholic charities to the vicariate which she served as vice chairman of Catholic Charities Central Board. She was Chairperson of her local Parish Pastoral Council that was so important to her. Nancy was a Eucharistic minister serving as one of the first ministers in the parish. She served her parish, Immaculate Conception, in ministering to the sick with home and nursing home visit, and helped preparing the bereavement dinners for the families.
Nancy had many passions, first and foremost was her family, church, cooking, decorating, the Pittsburgh Steelers and volunteering with the West Virginia Italian Heritage festival. Family gatherings and holiday traditions were a very big part of Nancy life, she loved nothing more than opening her home to her family for the big family tradition that she and Lynn started on Christmas Eve at “high noon”.
Nancy was appointed by the governor as a notary public in 2004. She held membership in the Harrison County Senior Citizens, The Sons of Italy, and Fraternal Order of Police. She just recently was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Irish legends.
Nancy is survived by her children, grandchildren, her brother Dominic “Mickey” and Debbie Cherubino, niece Jennifer Arbonaise, nephew DJ Cherubino, great niece Alexis Arbonaise, brother in law Brice and Judy Davisson, nephew Jonathon and Rebekah Davisson, brother in law Zack and Deri Davisson of Florida and mother n law Madge Davisson. She also has three aunts surviving, Mary Allowat Cherubino, Margaret Felosa Spatafore and Betty Felosa. She has several cousins that helped to make her life very special and held close to her heart.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the “Forward in Faith” of Immaculate Conception church, Harrison County Catholic School system, or Catholic Charites Central Region in her names.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12 – 8 p.m. on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Casey Mahone presiding. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
