Obituary for Joan "Joanna" White (Michael)

Joan (Joanna) Michael White, 81, of Bridgeport passed away on Monday evening, May 2, 2016 at the Country Living Personal Care Home in Jane Lew. She was born May 12, 1934 in Sistersville, WV a daughter of the late Pearley Eugene Michael and Lucy Fay Forrester Michael.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert William White, whom she married on August 5, 1955.
She is also survived by two daughters, Beverly Suzanne White of Columbus, OH and Tracy Ann White of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Amy Joanna Spell and her husband Nick of Tiffin, OH and Kelly Kristen Rose and her husband Stephen of Pickerington, OH; great grandchildren, Logan Belanger, Jack Rose and Luke James Spell; and one brother, Ronald E. Michael and his wife Linda of Sun Valley; and several nieces and nephews complete her family.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda E. Brooks and Donna J. Conner; and one brother Donald L. Michael.
Mrs. White was a 1952 graduate of Victory High School and she was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Clarksburg where she was a member of the Elizabeth Guild of St. Mark’s. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Joan was always the life of the party. Without effort Joan could always put a smile on everyone’s face. Her kids and grandkids will always remember her special song and dance when singing “I love you a bushel and a peck” and “Almost Heaven.”

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 2-6 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 12:00 noon at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1766 Milford Street, Clarksburg, WV with Pastor Linda Muhly-Alexander presiding. Mrs. White will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport.
