Obituary for Betty L. Simmons (Greathouse)

Betty L. Simmons, 72, of Harmony Grove Community, Grafton, passed away Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Clarksburg on December 9, 1943, a daughter of the late Richard Earl Greathouse and Irene Marguerite Bailey Greathouse.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Duane W. Simmons, whom she married March 30, 1964.
Also surviving are her son, Duane W. Simmons, Jr., and his wife, Allison, Flemington; and her daughter, Diana Simmons, Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Cody E. Moore and his wife Dionna, Grafton; Camey Moore and Caden Moore, both of Bridgeport; Mackenzie Simmons, Kassidy Simmons, and Merrick Simmons, all of Flemington; a brother, Jack Greathouse and his wife Doris Ann, Flemington; nephew Richard Greathouse and his wife Kelly of Fairmont and niece Rose Anna Greathouse of Flemington; a sister, Mary Kat Bailey of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Shirley Greathouse of Walkersville, and nephews Frank Greathouse of Jane Lew and Michael Greathouse and his wife Michelle of Clarksburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Greathouse.
Betty loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling and going to the beach.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, with Reverend Tom Horne presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery.
