Obituary for Pauline Ruth "Paula" Mills (Bastin)

Pauline (Paula) Ruth Mills, 92, of Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born January 17, 1924, in Punxsutawney, PA, the daughter of the late Gilli and Bertha Bastin. .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mills, with whom she had been married 71 years.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Penny) Mills of Doddridge County, and Scott (Liz) Mills of Lacey, WA, grandchildren, Stacy (Seth) Broadhurst of Fairmont, and Brian (Andi) Mills of Bridgeport. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Ella, Grant and Jared Broadhurst and Brady Mills.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul, of Clarksburg, and Olie, of Quiet Dell.
She was graduated from Victory High School and WV Business College, after which she worked in the office of Home Industries, James and Law, and Pursglove Coal Co. She had been an employee of North American Aviation in Columbus, OH, and 3-M Company in Cincinnati, OH, as a managerial secretary. During WWII she served as a volunteer Red Cross Nursing Aide. She had taught children’s Sunday School for many years. She loved the Lord, her family, her church, and people. She was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that remembrances be made to Simpson Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 231 W. Philadelphia Avenue, Bridgeport WV 26330.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Seth Broadhurst presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
