Obituary for Thomas E. McKenzie

Thomas Earl McKenzie, 74, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Grafton. He was born May 24, 1942 in Charleston, SC a son of the late Carl Singleton McKenzie and Maude Wyndham Peeples and her husband Harry Peeples, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kimberly Williams McKenzie whom he married on July 1, 2000.
He is also survived by his son Thomas E. McKenzie II, of Staten Island, NY; his daughter, Julie Malvagna and her husband Anthony of Manalapan, NJ and his stepson, Joey Squires and his companion Julie Russell of Clarksburg; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Francis and Amanda Malvagna of Manalapan, NJ , Sean, Emily, Benjamin and Mallory McKenzie; two step grandchildren, Sidney Squires of Clarksburg and Logan Russell of Salem; one sister, Eldena McKenzie Ramos and her husband Robert Ramos Jr., of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Carl Roland McKenzie and his wife Joann of Marion, SC and Lawrence Lee McKenzie and his wife Jearlean of Register, GA.
Tom was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician working for IBEW local 776 of Charleston, SC for 39 years until his retirement. His work took him too all of the states except Hawaii. He loved being with his grandchildren and talking to them. He loved to travel and tinker in his garage working on wood crafts. Tom was an avid sports fan, especially of football. He also enjoyed discussing politics.

There will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Richard Settles presiding. Entombment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the Camp Dawson Honor Guard.
