Obituary for William F. "Bill" Stockert

William “Bill” Stockert, 84, of Middleville Road, Bridgeport, passed away Saturday morning, September 3, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Buckhannon on April 26, 1932, and was raised by his grandmother, Georgia Stockert.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dama Jean “DJ” (Carpenter) Stockert, whom he married February 1, 1960.
Bill was a graduate of Buckhannon High School and served as an MP in the US Army. He was a self-employed carpenter and built homes. He enjoyed camping and fishing, especially in Elkins, and he also enjoyed hunting and used to raise beagles.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, where services will be held on at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016, with Pastor Alan Rosenberger presiding. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery, Buckhannon, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by the Upshur County Honor Guard.
