Obituary for Mary Catherine "Coogie" Strosnider (Lang)

Mary Catherine Lang Strosnider, 93, of Bridgeport, passed away October 14, 2016 in Eaglewood Care Center in Springfield, OH where she spent the last 8 weeks. She was born April 13, 1923, at home on Hinkle Lake Road in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late John J. Lang and Laura Hudkins Lang. She was also known to close family and friends as “Coogie”.
She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1940 and West Virginia Business College in 1942.
She married C. Donald Strosnider on November 28, 1946 in Bridgeport and they had 62 years together before his passing in 2009.
She was a 70 year member of Bridgeport Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, secretary to the deacons, young adult and Bible school teacher, Baptist Youth advisor, Day Circle of American Baptist Women, member & officer in Judson Women Association, and the church choir. She also worked as a Deputy County Clerk of Harrison County for many years, served with the Bridgeport Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, Bridgeport & South Hills Homemakers Clubs, Junior Women’s of Bridgeport and was an election official.
Mary and Don spent their retirement years traveling the country, spending winters in Florida in their camper and enjoying time with their friends.
She is survived by Randy (Jeanie) Strosnider of Bridgeport, Kathy McNemar of Stonewood, & Trudy (Tim) Bucey of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott Strosnider of Bridgeport, Molly (Nicole) Bradley-McNemar of Lexington, KY, Mady McNemar of Hattiesburg, MS, Jason (Elaine) Bucey, Diana (Boler) Cuy Castellanos, Denise (Mani) Anantharaman of Springfield, Ohio and 8 great grandchildren, Lilly Feldman; Hadlee, Rizer & Bexley Bucey; Naomi Cuy Castellanos, Elijah, Zane & Selah Anantharaman. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Terry McNemar.
Memorial donations can made to Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. 4th St., Clarksburg, WV 26301.
Family and friends are asked to come and celebrate Mary’s life at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on October 17, 2016 at 10:00 am with Rev. Bobby Perine officiating. Burial will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
