Obituary for Nelson Wade "Butch" Robinson Sr.

“Butch” Nelson Wade Robinson, Sr., 73, of Bridgeport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Bridgeport on March 17, 1943, a son of the late J. Fred Robinson and Juanita Snider Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen (Snyder) Robinson, whom he married on December 29, 1961.
Also surviving are two sons, Wade Robinson and his wife Sarita, and Fred Robinson and his wife Mary, and a daughter, Kim Vincent and her husband Paul, all of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Doug Weil, of Ohio, Sean Robinson, Florida; Paige Leigh Robinson, Bridgeport; Dalton Robinson, Cameron Robinson, both of South Carolina; Emily Bombardiere and her husband Sal Bombardiere, II, and Andrew Galan, all of Bridgeport; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Weil of Ohio; Two sisters, Janice Kiger, of Bridgeport and Brenda Nestor of Shinnston; and several nieces and nephews complete his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Robinson and William Robinson.
Butch was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 1961, and was also a graduate of Fairmont State College. He retired as Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service, serving from 1961 – 1984, the last seven of which he served on the staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. He had previously been stationed at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, TX; North East Cape, Alaska; Kadena AFB, Okinawa; Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; and the Pentagon, Washington, DC. He then worked at the Clarksburg Post Office, retiring after 17 years of service.
He was a member of the Boothsville United Methodist Church; the NRA; and the Harrison County Master Gardener Association. He loved gardening and taking care of his property, cutting his grass and keeping his yard immaculate. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, with Dr. Michael Richards presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors provided by the Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard.
