Obituary for Barbara Rene Baker

Mrs. Barbara F. Baker, 85 years of age, of Broadway Street, Lost Creek and formerly of Clemans Road Flemington passed away peacefully on November 15, 2016 with family by her side. She died after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on December 3, 1930, in Clarksburg a daughter of the late Andrew Freeland and Gladys Freeland McCoy.
She is survived by her husband James Arthur Baker whom she married on January 29, 1949.
She is also survived by her three daughters, Anita Kay Booth and her husband David of Flemington, Connie Sue Warne and her husband Bryce of Midlothian, VA and Andrea Lynn Baker of Midlothian, VA; her grandsons, James Harold Booth of Morgantown, and Keegan James Warne of Midlothian, VA. She had other close relatives and friends who were like family. Mrs. Margaret Palma of Parkersburg, Barbara’s sister also survives.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brother Chauncey Freeland.
Barbara was a graduate of RW High School and furthered her studies in secretarial school. She used this to pursue a career in secretarial work. She retired from Mutual of Omaha in 1987 after 20 years of service and went on to work at two real estate companies. Barbara liked to read, cook and care for her family, WVU football and Pirates baseball were often her favorite television events. She also loved the music of country music legend, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn in particular.

The family would like to thank Judy Corkreon and her assistants at Corkreon Elder Care and many Amedysis Hospice workers, Amanda, Meranda and Becca among others.
A private viewing and graveside service were held on November 18, 2016. Burial was at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Final arrangements were coordinated by Burnside Funeral Home and featured long-time friend and Pastor Tommy Horne.
