Obituary for Max "Rusty" Stirewalt

Max R. “Rusty” Stirewalt, 79, of Willow Beach Community, Quiet Dell, joined his beloved wife in Heaven on Sunday, January 29, 2017 following a brief illness. He was born April 5, 1937, in Greenup, IL, a son of the late Euris “Rusty” and Lillie Maxine (Brown) Stirewalt.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sarah Ann (Ruckman) Stirewalt, on December 13, 2014.
He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Holbert and her husband Art, Twinsburg, OH; and Mary Carpenter, Clarksburg; his son, Jody Stirewalt and his wife Angela , Fletcher, NC; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Holbert and his wife Christine, Philadelphia, PA; Laura (Stirewalt) Jaworski and her husband Adam, Greer, SC. Julie Stirewalt and her fiancée Will Rushing, Luke, and Kate Stirewalt, Fletcher, NC; Adam Stafford and his wife Taylor, Clarksburg; Ronnie Carpenter and his fiancée Chelsea Propps, Clarksburg; and a great-grandson, Grayson Stafford; great-granddaughter Adalynn Carpenter, his sister, Gloria Nichols, Stonewood; and several nieces and nephews, and a life -long friend Kurt Snyder.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Stirewalt; a granddaughter, Moriah Holbert; and two brothers, Kirby and Dana Stirewalt.
Rusty was a graduate of R-W High School, Class of 1955. He worked at Grafton Coal Company. He formerly owned Rusty’s Sinclair Service Station and R & S Auto Parts in Nutter Fort. He enjoyed NASCAR and attending local high school basketball games. He was a member of Bible Baptist Temple, Stonewood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to Bible Baptist Temple, Benevolent Fund, 1450 Cost Avenue, Stonewood, WV 26301.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, where services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 4, 2017, with Pastor Charles Madaus presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
