Obituary for James J. Wagner

James J. Wagner, 80, of Bridgeport passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at his residence and his hardworking hands are now at rest. He was born July 3, 1936 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Joseph P. Wagner and Georgina F. Wagner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine L. Wagner, whom he married on October 10, 1964.
Jim is also survived by his son, James Andrew “Andy” Wagner and his wife Michele and his daughter, Alice Skinner and her husband Dave; grandchildren, Daniel Skinner, Brooke R. Wagner, Bridget M. Wagner, Natalie M. Wagner, Kaitlyn N. Wagner and Andrew J. Wagner; his sister, Mary Lantz and a special niece Tammy DeMastus.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother David Charles Wagner and many beloved pets.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of Bridgeport High School and served proudly in the United States Navy from 1956-1960 as a machinist mate. He was a plank owner on the USS Hermitage (LSD-34) and enjoyed attending reunions with his former shipmates. He was employed as a Well Tender for 35 years until his retirement in 1996 from EQT. He enjoyed following WVU sports and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan, and he attended games at Forbes Field, Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park. He also enjoyed working his farm, raising gardens and tinkering with antique tractors.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Sharon Dietze at Trinity Cemetery, Brushy Fork.
