Obituary for Frank Secret

Frank Secret, who recently surpassed 100, died Monday May 8, 2017. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Daisy (Tomaro) Secret. Born February 3, 1917, in Hepzibah, Frank was the son of P. A. Secret and Constance Gerendino Secret. He was the last surviving member of his family, and was predeceased by siblings John, Jim, Pat, Tony, Joe, Sophie, Rose, Mary Columbo and Virginia Salentro.
A 1938 graduate of Victory High School, he played football under Farley Bell and also played football at Salem College. He left college after two years and enlisted in the US Navy. Frank served in World War II aboard the USS Weehawken in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. His ship was involved in the invasions of Casablanca, Gila, Sicily, and then were directed to Okinawa Island. Four of his brothers also enlisted and served during World War II.
With his family, he owned PA Secret and Son General Merchandise. The family was one of the earliest and largest General Electric dealers and had five family-owned furniture stores and later Towne House Motor Lodges. Frank was a member of the Columbian Club, an early member of Bridgeport Country Club and a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Frank is survived by son Pete Secret (Ina) of Clarksburg, daughter Constance Plevelich (Joe) of West Chester, PA; grandchildren Barbara Plevelich, Joseph Plevelich, Matthew Plevelich and fiancée Ashley Bryant, and Frank Secret and his fiancé Ashley Phillips, along with first cousin Scottie Secret of Sarasota, Florida, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital and Frank's caregiver and friend Mike Rhodes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Family and friends will be received at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4-8pm, with the Vigil Service will also be held on at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 10:00 am with Father Benedict Kapa as Celebrant and Father Hilarion Cann as Concelebrant. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors provided by the Harrison County Honor Guard.
