Robert “Bob” Lee McGill, Sr., 70, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday morning, June 6, 2017, at his home. He was born in Brownton on May 13, 1947, a son of the late Stephen B. and Lilan (Saucer) McGill.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Catherine G. (McDonald) McGill, whom he married May 9, 1968.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and three daughters, Mary Warner and her husband Noel of Bridgeport; Bobbie Sue Sothen and her husband Bill of Salem; Robert McGill, Jr., and his wife Robin of Philippi; and Connie McGill of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Abby Warner and Matthew Warner of Bridgeport and Amber McGill of Philippi. Also surviving are a sister, Betty Stubenbordt of Manassas, VA; brothers-in-law, Dewey Nestor of Fairmont, Charles McDonald of Bridgeport; Donald Shahan of Michigan; and sisters-in-law Margaret Green of Michigan and Barbara McGill of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen F. McGill; five brothers and sisters who died in infancy, Nancy, Ersel, Rita, Timothy and James McGill; sister, Carol Nestor; sister and brother-in-law Margaret McGill Williams and Harry Williams; brother Larry McGill; his mother- and father-in-law, Lela L. and Harry F. McDonald; brothers-in-law, Charles Stubenbordt, Ray McDonald and Lee Green; sisters-in-law, Delores Norman and Mary Shahan; and nephew Lee Shahan.
Bob was a graduate of Flemington High School. He was formerly employed by Owens-Illinois and retired from Consol Robinson Run Mine. He was a member of the UMWA and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Pirates. He was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sam Myers presiding. Interment will follow in Hepzibah Cemetery, Taylor County.
