Obituary for Joan "Jo" Tinney (Ross)

Wilma Joan “Jo” Ross Tinney, 77, of Clarksburg, died Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Wilsonburg on April 1, 1940, a daughter of the late James Edward and Eythel Virginia Fornash Ross.

On May 22, 1970, she married Charles William Tinney, who preceded her in death on October 30, 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Jodie E. Tinney and her companion Robert Littles, Clarksburg; two grandsons, Dekota “Kody” Murphy and Robert “Luke” Littles, both of Clarksburg; a sister, Mary Coffman, Anmoore; step-children, Brenda Myers and DeeAnna Suttner, both of Florida; and Frank Tinney, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Karen Fleming and her children Larry “TJ” Fleming and his wife Amanda, Joshua Fleming and his son Adam Fleming; Britn Fleming Teth Pfifley and her husband Michael and their son Marcus Pfifley, all of Clarksburg; and Fred Coffman and his wife Ronja, Bridgeport.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters in infancy; and two nieces, Donna Elder and Shawna Hardman.

Jo was a graduate of Victory High School, Class of 1958. She enjoyed making a loving home for her family and enjoyed her flowers.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 4 – 8 p.m., and she will be cremated after the visitation.
