Obituary for Ronzel Ray Somerville

Ronzel R. Somerville, 80, of Blackwell Street, Bridgeport, died Friday evening, June 23, 2017, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Weston on July 11, 1936, a son of the late Hayward Murus and Roena Gae Maxson Somerville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mable B. (Cole) Somerville, whom he married June 14, 1958.

Also surviving are his daughter, Teresa Lynn Aloi and her husband Nick of Bridgeport; his son, Douglas R. Somerville, Crawfordsville, IN; 5 grandchildren, Brandon J. Somerville, Douglas S. Somerville, Logan R. Somerville, Franchesca R. Aloi, and Savanna H. Mattox; and a great-grandson, Landon Chayce Somerville. A brother, Rodney Somerville and his wife Brenda, Cox’s Mills; two sisters-in-law, Maisie Somerville, Linn, WV, Mary Cole Sommerville, Belmont, WV; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Bush, Bridgeport, and Herbert Cole, Amherst, OH; and several nieces and nephews complete the family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kline Somerville, Larry Duley and two sisters, Ruby Somervill and Mary Wilda Bush.

Ronzel was a graduate of Troy High School in 1955, and retired in 1992 as a crew foreman with CNG with over 36 years of service. He was a 50 year member and 32nd Degree Mason of Late Lodge 63 and also a 50 year member of the Shriners. He loved golfing and was a long-time member of Sunny Croft Country Club. He also enjoyed NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12 noon – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017, with Reverend Jim Lang and Reverend Robert Perine presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
