Obituary for Martha Ann Jones (Kuffner)

Martha Ann Jones, 80, of Pittsburgh, and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2017 at Asbury Health Center, Pittsburgh. She was born in Clarksburg on January 27, 1937, the only child of the late Fred Kuffner and Gertie Smith Kuffner Kiser.
On August 10, 1957, she married Freddy H. Jones, who preceded her in death on August 11, 2001.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Sutherland and her husband Peter, Pittsburgh; her son Marc A. Jones and his wife Roseanna, Morgantown; and two grandchildren, William J. and Laura Jane Sutherland, both of Pittsburgh.
Martha was a graduate of St. Mary’s Nursing School and was a Nurse who for most of her career worked in several doctors’ offices, but for most of her life she was just “Mom.” She enjoyed playing mahjong, reading and crossword puzzles as well as playing bingo. She especially enjoyed living in Asbury Heights retirement community and their activities. Until she moved to Pittsburgh three years ago, she was a member of Anmoore United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Robert C. Cole presiding. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
