Mr. Straley graduated from Unidis High School (West Milford), the Class of 1950. From 1950 to 1952 he played minor league baseball as a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He retired from Fairmont Specialty Services after thirteen years of service and was previously employed by Anchor Hocking. He was a Co-Owner with his wife of Nancy’s Tours. He truly enjoyed his retirement as he traveled extensively with Nancy. Over the years they took about a dozen trips per year together to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Nashville, Gatlinburg and many other destinations. Barney was a fixture in the front of the bus. All of the folks traveling with Nancy loved to chat with him. He was sharp minded and quick witted. They will hold his seat open for the remainder of the year in his memory. He also enjoyed their weekly trips to the mall, lounging on the back porch, gardening, and watching WVU Mountaineer sports. Barney will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Mr. Straley regularly attended Bridgeport Baptist Church. He was truly a blessed man.
The family would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the tremendous care and support in taking care of Barney.
