Obituary for Patricia McDonald Yeager (Root)

Patricia Louise McDonald Yeager, 78, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born May 6, 1939, in Fayette County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marlow John Root and Bertha Delia (Helman) Root.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Edward McDonald in 1982.

Pat is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jerry Lee Yeager whom she married September 4, 1996, daughters, Betty Jean Boylen of Grafton; Brenda Elizabeth Davis of Johnstown, PA; Shirley Ann Crown and husband David of Smithsburg, MD; Delores Kay McKibben and husband Vincent of Clarksburg; and Doris Faye Doyle and husband Danny of Grafton; Jimmy Lee Norman of Bridgeport, whom she thought of as a son; sisters, Hazel Cook, Clarksburg; Minnie Nicholas, Pearl Edwards, and Grace Henderson, all of Brushy Fork Community, Bridgeport; brother, Russell Root of Athens; grandchildren, Stephen, Mary, Carlos, Kevin, Saul, Alicia, Jessica, Patrisia, Christopher, Michael, Erica, David, Amber, Joshua, Aaron, Daniel, Kristie, and Samantha, twenty-one great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Root, Linda Faulkner, and Betty Jane Root; brothers, Arnett Root, Porter Root, John Root, Samuel Root, and Orpha Root, a son-in-law, Audry Boylen, Jr; grandson, Audrey Boylen, III, and two granddaughters, Amanda Rose and Anngianna Margarita Herrera.

She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Wife, whom she devoted her entire life to. She loved being social and meeting new people and she never knew a stranger. Her smile reflected her love for everyone.


Friends will also be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, with Pastor David Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery.
