Obituary for Dr. Dino S Colombo

Dr. Dino S. Colombo, 81, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday November 18, 2017 at Monongalia General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born January 24, 1936 in Clarksburg. A son of the late Samuel Colombo and Lenora Romano Colombo, and he grew up in Nutter Fort, WV.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Colombo whom he married on August 24, 1957. Dino and Mary Ellen Colombo raised their family in Bridgeport, WV.

Dr. Colombo is survived by his two sons, Dino S. Colombo (54 years of age) and his wife Dawn of Morgantown; Steven J. Colombo and his wife Lynne of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Nathan E. Colombo and Caroline E. Colombo, both of Morgantown, Steven B. Colombo of Beckley, Christina A. Colombo of Charlotte and Shannon L. Lawson of Charlotte; great granddaughter Autumn Colombo.

Dr. Colombo graduated from WVU and the School of Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Colombo was a dentist in Clarksburg for nearly 50 years. He was a very generous and caring man who was devoted to helping others. His passion was volunteering at the Susan Dew Hoff Memorial Clinic where he was the medical director and dentist for 13 years treating thousands of patients for free. At Christmas time he would organize a group of his friends and family to go out and buy clothes and toys for families in need. He was a Christian who loved his Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart and he loved his friends and family.

He will fondly be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Source, through the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church, 540 Fairmont Road, Morgantown, WV 26501 or through their website kingdomemc.com.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 12-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport at 11:00 am with Reverend Steve Engle presiding. Dr. Colombo will lie in State one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg
