Obituary for Kenneth Luther Massie Jr.

Kenneth L. Massie, Jr., 52, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday evening, November 30, 2017, at United Hospital Center. At this time, he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lakeside, NJ, on February 4, 1965, a son of the late Kenneth L. Massie, Sr., and Phyllis Marie (Field) Massie. He is survived by his step mother, Linda Massie Plum of Grafton.

He is survived by his five children, Shaun Massie and wife Anne of Maryland; Jessica L. Carder and husband Dillon; Justin M. Massie; Jared R. Massie; Jonathan “Luke” Massie, granddaughter, Lynnley G. Carder, and former wife, Jackie A. Holbert, all of Bridgeport. In addition, he leaves three sisters, Louisa Ware of Flemington, Cathy Pointer of Oklahoma, and Tina Blackwell of California; brothers, Kelly Gamble, of Kingwood; Rocky Whales, of Ohio and Matt Massie, of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews complete the family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Massie.

Ken was a graduate of Grafton High School and served in the US Army with the Grafton Military Police Unit. He owned and operated F&M Construction/Bridgeport Builders since 1998 beside his cousin and best friend, Steve Field. For which he was rewarded Outstanding Builder, by Custom Building Systems, in 2016. He lived for his children and granddaughter. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and watching football and basketball, especially the Steelers and WVU.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday from 3 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, with Reverend Tom Horne presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
