Obituary for Stanley Harold Wotring

In the morning of December 4, 2017 Stanley “Harold” Wotring passed away at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans hospital after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 9, 1940 in Turner Douglas, WV in Preston County a son of the late Henry Wotring and Irene Zirkle Wotring of Buckhannon.
He is survived by his wife Carol Hardman Wotring; two sons, Stanley Harold Wotring Jr. residing in Boston MA and David Wotring of Kingsport TN; one brother, Dewey Wotring of LaGrange KY and four grandchildren, Hannah Wotring Estepp and Quintin Wotring of Kingsport TN and Asiah Wotring and Stanley Harold Wotring III of Boston, MS. He also had five nieces and a nephew: Sharla (Wotring) Frantz, Leanna (Wotring) Lilly, Jerry Lynn Roy, Pam (Roy) Merica, Judy (Roy) Shifflett and Suzanne (Sipes) Leighton.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Wotring and a sister Betty Wotring Sipe
He was a son of a coal miner and grew up with a passion to make life better for his family. Stanley was an Army Veteran, serving in a surface to air missile battery in Pittsburg PA. He will be remembered by the countless hours he donated to young lives at NVAC Park coaching Baseball. He touched many through his tireless involvement in baseball and trying to make young kids realize their true potential.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will be in Sand Run Cemetery, Buckhannon, WV.
