Obituary for Robert Patrick "Pat" Leonard

Robert Patrick “Pat” Leonard, 65, of Mount Clare, passed away at his home on Friday, February 23, 2018. He was born on September 12, 1952 in Clarksburg a son of the late Robert Kenneth Leonard and Genetta Maude Hamrick.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Paula Dye Leonard whom he married on November 12, 1982
He is also survived by his daughter Heather Nicole Leonard Birch; three sons, Robbie Paul Leonard, Raymond Leonard and Ryan Phillip Leonard; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Jadyn Birch, who were the loves of his life; two brothers, Roger Wayne “Butch” Leonard and Raymond Mark Leonard; three sisters, Lisa Beth Lake, Julie Maude Gaston and Rebecca Venettozzi; two special aunts Lilly Cochran and Lucille Rogers; along with several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Lora Mae Dye Gower and father-in-law Thurmond Franklin Dye.
Pat was a graduate of Webster Springs High School and after graduation served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, he was a coal miner and an ordained minister. He then received his associate’s degree from Fairmont State University in Criminal Justice and then was employed as a Corrections Officer with the Salem Industrial Home for Youth.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening, making canes and picking berries with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Miranda and Keith from Amedysis Hospice for their excellent care of Pat.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 11-12 pm. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at the Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery, Lost Creek with Pastor Bud Cochran presiding. Military Honors will also be accorded at the graveside service.
