Obituary for Betty Louise Lemon

Betty Louise Lemon, 87, of Stonewood, passed into Eternity on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Bridgeport Health Care in Bridgeport. She was born in Baltimore, MD on October 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Phyllis and Clifford Stone. Her mother passed away in April of 1932, and she was adopted by Earl and Doris Bosley, her great aunt and uncle.
Her husband Joseph Lemon preceded her in death on October of 1976. They were married on July 1, 1950.
Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis Margaret Popovich and her companion Steve Cockrell of Bridgeport and one son, Bradford Wayne Lemon and his companion Sarah Ware of Jane Lew; two grandsons, Dr. Greg Bradley-Popovich and his companion Kristy Henson of Buckhannon, and Henry Ford Lemon of PA; great-grandchildren, Olivia Marielle Bradley-Popovich of Nutter Fort and Alexander Wheeler Bradley-Popovich of Buckhannon, and their mother, Cheryl Bradley-Popovich of Nutter Fort.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law George Popovich.
Mrs. Lemon was an accomplished piano teacher for over 68 years and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nutter Fort. She was a secretary for Dr. Joseph Gilman from 1948-1953. She was a pianist for Clarksburg Lions Club for 5 years and entertained retirement dinners for Pittsburgh Plate employees and also played for diverse events and charitable clubs including State Farm, Jaycess, Altrusa Club, Stonewall Jackson Club and Choral Club of RW over the years. Her piano students performed in 68 recitals. She was president of the Marcata Music Club of Clarksburg in her youth.
She graduated from RW Class of 1948 and she was an enthusiastic accomplished pianist who began teaching others to play the piano while she was still in high School. She had an outstanding career in music and was recognized for her versatile style and adaptations of music performance. She influenced hundreds of students over the years to continue their musical skills into adulthood. Mrs. Lemon taught many values of having the knowledge of music to the masses. Her musical talent will always be remembered, and her repertoire of music crossed all ages. Her philosophy was that music was essential of life- be it career or personal pleasure. She truly enjoyed and expressed her entire life, the piano lessons given to her as a child that became a heritage never to be forgotten by so many. Her grace and resonance of music will transcend through the ages with melodic splendor and harmony.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2-8pm, where services will be conducted on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Don Fowler presiding. Interment will follow in Stonewall Park Cemetery.
