Obituary for Vanessa Ann Sandy (Yeste)

Vanessa Ann Yeste Sandy, 33, of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday morning, June 16, 2018, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born March 25, 1985, in North Miami Beach, FL, a daughter of Carol Ann (Kelley) Yeste, who survives in Bridgeport, and the late Raul Yeste.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her three children who were the loves of her life, Lyda Rose, Lyza Jane, and Justin Jr. “Buddy” Sandy; her companion, Joshua Rawlings; two sisters, Ivonne Yeste, Coconut Creek, FL; Natasha Yeste-Delaney and her husband Harry; two foster children; her niece and nephew, Hannah Grace and Isaac Harrison; her grandmother, Wanda Kelley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved best friends, Randy “Bub” Husk and Tonia Parks.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Vozzi and her grandfather, Robert “Bob” Kelley.
Vanessa was a veterinary technician with Dr. Williams and the Harrison County Veterinary Hospital. She had a passion for rescuing all sorts of animals, and was a member of Pet Helpers and enjoyed supporting their events.
She had a strong faith and trusted in the Lord Jesus. Even through her fighting her illness she wanted the focus to not be on her, but to others that were going through a similar fight. Her children meant everything to her and she worked hard for them to have a better future.
The family would like to give special acknowledgement for the care provided to Vanessa and her family to the staff of Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Ruby Memorial Hospital. They became like family through Vanessa’s fight.
In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Vanessa’s love for pets, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Pet Helpers, 726 East Park Ave PMB 311, Fairmont, WV 26554
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday, June 18, 2018, from 2 – 7 p.m., where services will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Don Knotts presiding.
