Troy Cole Nutter, 59, of Brushy Fork Community, Bridgeport, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 23, 2018, due to an accident while working on his farm. He was born in Clarksburg on July 12, 1958, a son of Nancy Nutter, who survives in Bridgeport, and the late John Paul Nutter, Jr.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Darlene (Woofter) Nutter, with whom he just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.

Also surviving are his daughter, Sharon Werdebaugh and her husband Scott, of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Mariah Boyce, Wesley Boyce and step-grandson Domonick “Dom” Werdebaugh; his brother, Scott Nutter and his wife Leigh Ann of Bridgeport; his sister, Denise Evans and her husband Calvin of Virginia Beach, VA; 12 nieces and nephews, including 4 great; and a large, loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Nutter; two brothers, Paul Nutter and a brother in infancy; his grandparents, Ruth and John Paul Nutter, Sr, and Everett and Maxine Sigley; and a step-grandson, TJ Werdebaugh.

Troy was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 1977, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree of Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University. He served 31 years in the WV National Guard, 18 of which were active duty, where he was a platoon sergeant and senior horizontal construction supervisor. He was to retire from the Guard on July 10, 2018. He was also the yard manager for Ryan Environmental, and was also a member of the Carpenter’s Union for 10 years. In addition to dedicating his career to the military and his carpentry work, he spent the majority of his career as a truck driver which allowed him to see most of the country. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a very strong man of God and that his faith in his Lord and Savior was felt by everyone close to him.

Troy ran track and was part of FFA while in school, and was very involved in 4-H as a child and young adult. He always worked very hard to support his family. He knew how to fix or build anything and was always there offering to help anyone. He and his wife worked for years to build their home together using his excellent carpentry skills.
