Obituary for Michael Sentell Malcolm

Michael Sentell Malcolm (1946 – 2018) passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2018, after a long history of cardiac and pulmonary illnesses. He was born on August 15, 1946, in Clarksburg, to Sentell K. and V. Louise Malcolm, both of whom preceded him in death.
Michael was a 1964 graduate of Victory High School, before going on to Fairmont State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1969. In 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army, from which he would earn an Honorable Discharge.
On September 19, 1970, Michael was wed to Linda Kay (Myers) Malcolm, with whom he was married for nearly 48 years.
In 1976, Michael and Linda made their home in Bridgeport, where they raised their two children, Brock Michael Malcolm (born in 1973) and Christie Lea (Malcolm) Lough (born in 1975). He never left the house without the most recent pictures of his four grandchildren, Kyle Edward Malcolm (17), Spencer Charles Malcolm (8), Garry Michael Lough (13), and Emily Elizabeth Lough (11), all of whom loved him dearly.
In addition to his wife and children, Michael is also survived by his two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Jackson Jacobs of Mt. Clare and Lois and William Benincosa of Nutter Fort.
Michael worked faithfully for Roland/Fourco/AFG Glass for 36 years. He loved watching and talking about sports, especially the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He never missed a game or event of his kids or grandchildren until the later stages of his life when his health prevented him from attending. Still, he was always anxious to watch videos and look at pictures.
Michael’s life will be celebrated in a private family ceremony prior to him being laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Clarksburg. Those wishing to pay tribute to Michael are asked, in lieu of flowers, to make a donation in his honor to the United Way of Harrison County, PO Box 2452, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
Arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
