Obituary for William Robert "Bill" Wilfong

William Robert “Bill” Wilfong, 79, Quiet Dell, passed through the Gates of Heaven Sunday morning, July 22, 2018. He was born in Clarksburg on December 11, 1938, a son of the late Nyal C. and Blanche (Probst) Wilfong.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Nora Jean Wilfong, on July 18, 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Long) Cleghorn Wilfong, whom he married July 8, 2000.
Also surviving are his son, Gary Wilfong of Morgantown; and his daughter, Gina Hall of Jackson, OH; and six grandchildren, Brett Wilfong; Braden Wilfong; Kennedy Wilfong; Gabrielle Wilfong; Bryce Hall; and Raegan Hall; two sisters, Doris Duke, Nutter Fort; June Preston, Clarskburg; and Carolyn’s children, John Cleghorn, Bridgeport; Rob Cleghorn and his wife Donna, Bridgeport; Timothy Cleghorn and his wife Cindy, Martinsburg; and Stephanie Cleghorn, Morgantown; 9 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, J.B. Duke.
Bill was a graduate of WI High School and served in the US Marine Reservists. He had worked at Brockway Glass, Anchor Hocking Glass, and retired in 2004 from Northrup Grumman/Aurora Flight Services as a machinist after 13 years of service.
He was a member of the Clarksburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Happy Campers Club, and loved to travel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s memory can be sent to Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. 4th Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
The family would like to acknowledge Morgantown Health and Rehab and Amedisys Hospice for the kind care given to Bill.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 8 Wednesday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018, with Dr. David Carrico presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
