Obituary for Phyllis Mae Shifflet

Phyllis M. Shifflet, 94, of Bridgeport, WV, formerly of Cedar Grove, WV, Passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport.
She was born on June 9, 1924, in Ward, WV, to Norman and Ruby Grubb Connard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry B. Shifflet, a daughter, Dr. Annita Ward, and eleven brothers and sisters.
Phyllis attended the Evangel Baptist Church in Bridgeport and attended the Ward Church of God while living in Cedar Grove. She worked as a CNA
for several years. Phyllis loved to read and work in her flower garden. She also spent a lot of time visiting the sick and those that were unable to leave their homes-her “shut ins” as she called them.
Phyllis is survived by four children. Her son, David B. (Nancy) Shifflet of Charleston, WV, daughters, Sandy (Larry) Dangerfield of Mammoth, WV, Margie (Michael) Romine of Grove City, OH, and Barbara (Joe) Williamson of Pembroke Pines, Florida. She is survived by two brothers, Leon Connard of Winifrede, WV and Charles Connard of Elyria, OH. Phyllis had eleven grandchildren, David (Lindsey) Shifflet, Jennifer Shifflet, Larry (Melinda) Dangerfield, Glen Ward, Sandi Ward, Amanda Romine, Ben Romine, Christina Romine, Josh Williamson, Brian Williamson and Ashley Williamson. She also had three great grandchildren that she adored and they adored her, Trey, Mason and Lillian Dangerfield. We cannot forget her special neighbor and friend, Joyce Harris, who was always there when Mother needed her.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the People’s Hospice nurses and the staff at Meadowview Manor who took such good care of our Mother during the last few weeks of her life.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:00 am with Reverend Jeff Ramsey presiding. Interment will be in Ward Cemetery, Cedar Grove, WV at 2:00 pm.
