Nellie Irene Vickers, 91, of Parsons, passed away Thursday evening, February 18, 2010, at her daughter Patricia’s home in Bridgeport. She was born in Otter Creek on August 5, 1918, a daughter of the late William Isaac and Louisa Ellen Plum Long. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Calvin Edward Vickers. She is survived by six children, Georgie Vellonlhie, Bonnie Jermon, Melvin Price, Debbie Davis, Linda Gatto, and Patricia Vickers Lloyd; and 17 grandchildren, David, Cameron, Nicolette, Colin, and Caroline Lloyd; Greg and Edward Gatto; Tonya Gatto Nails; David Bennitt; Regina Bennitt Cale; Derek and Bryant Price; Kenneth and David Barr; and Danile, Cindy and Janet Jermon; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Dale Gatto; a brother, Fred Long; and four sisters, Bonnie Vickers, Goldie Knicley, Virginia Long, and Hope Long. Nellie was a Jehovah’s Witness. She had worked with the Tucker County Senior Citizens, Elder Hostal, and the Coordinating Council for Independent Living. She was a person who loved being around and helping people. At her request, she will be cremated and services will be held at a later time. Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport
