Obituary for Jeannette Everitt

Hazel Jeannette Smith Everitt, 87, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at United Hospital Center, surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1929 on Little Elk in the Brown community a daughter of the late Audie “Doc” Blackburn Smith and Goldie Matilda Beverlin Smith Wright.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Jimmie R. Everitt; three infant children; one infant great grandchild; her treasured son-in-law, Kenneth Findley and her only sister, Lois Merle Martin.
Jeannette was the devoted mother of Vicki Rae Everitt Findley Henry and her husband Jim of Bridgeport and Silver Springs, FL; cherished Nana to grandchildren Brian Findley of Milford Center, OH, Kristen Everett and her husband Jody of Flemington, Faith Harris and her companion Bob McCutcheon of Fairmont, and Daniel Mooney of Flemington; great grandchildren Taren Wolford and her husband Jacob, Emily and Christopher Andrews, William Findley, Adriel, Joey and Brooke Everett, Daniel, Jr., Angel and Jimmie Mooney; and adored aunt to several nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed the companionship of her loyal canine, “Cookie.”
She was an excellent cook, homemaker and caregiver; she doted on her family and was always ready to help anyone in need. She took pride in keeping a beautiful home, where guests were joyfully welcomed. She enjoyed crewel embroidery, raising flowers, and a lifelong devotion to gospel music. She was a faithful member of the Simpson Creek Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Her loyalty to the order of Eastern Star also included more than 50 years during which time she held numerous offices.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Simpson Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 231 W. Philadelphia Avenue, Bridgeport WV 26330.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 10-12 pm, where funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Mount Clare.
