Jeffrey L. Richards, 73, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday morning, January 5, 2017, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Clarksburg on September 21, 1943, a son of the late Alfred “Bud” and Marjorie (Sommerville) Richards.
On April 11, 1964, he married Barbara Jean Capilla, who preceded him in death on December 30, 2016.
He is survived by his daughter, Shari Smiers and her husband David, Fairmont; his son, Scott Richards and his wife Cindy, Brewster, MA; four grandchildren, Shana Carpenter and her companion Andrew Grabb, Fairmont; Whitney Lowry and her husband Marshall, Fairmont; Allyson Richards and Jeffrey Richards, both of Brewster, MA; two great-grandchildren, Maddox Grabb and Mia Lowry; a sister, Linda Jo Frank and her husband Alan of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and had attended WV Business College, which is where he met his wife Barbara. He retired from Kroger’s in Clarksburg as the Produce Manager after 40 years of service on March 31, 2006. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and adored his dog “Penny.”

In honoring his wishes, he was cremated and no services will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
